VISSTUN EXPANDS PRODUCT LINE, INCREASES PRODUCTION CAPACITY
With the installation of a fifth cup forming machine, the company has added three new sizes to its product line and has boosted production to more than 200 million cups per year.
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (March 18, 2011) – Visstun has expanded its plastic and paper cup offerings and increased its production capacity with the addition of a fifth Paper Machinery Corp. (PMC) 1250P cup forming machine. This installation comes after a fourth machine went live just 18 months ago.
In addition to producing the 12-, 17-, 20-, 32- and 44-ounce cup sizes along with a 16-ounce container, the latest machine also fabricates the new distributor requested 9- and 16-ounce cup sizes as well as an 8-ounce container. The 12- and 16-ounce sizes use a common lid, giving distributors even more choices for their clients’ promotions.
The new machine will fabricate more than 40 million cups annually at a speed of 165 cups per minute. Total annual production now tops 200 million units.
The installation of the new machine also improves scheduling flexibility, as all cup sizes can be run on any of the five machines. Additionally, the five machines are synchronized for the same quality production so the same cup can be made on all machines. This allows Visstun to handle both large and small orders efficiently and in a timely manner.
“When we launched Visstun in 2007, we collaborated with PMC to pioneer the development of preprinting convolute forming for plastic cups and began production with two 1250P machines,” said Paula Piano, Visstun director of sales. “We doubled our capacity in the first two years of operation, and to boost production by another 50-percent in 18 months is not only remarkable but has also exceeded our expectations, especially given the economic times. We are grateful to our distributors for their support, and we look forward to continuing to partner with them in the future to meet their clients’ needs for truly unique, four color cups.”
Founded in 2006, Visstunlaunched the world’s first high-definition convolute cups. This unique, state-of-the-art technology eclipses traditional cup imprinting methods by first printing high-quality corporate images on flat polypropylene sheets and then forming them into cups on custom-engineered machinery.
The result is a line of visually stunning plastic and paper cups that has been honored 11 times, including the 2009 Counselor Product Design Award for Drinkware, the 2011 Silver PPAI Suppliers Achievement Award in the Offset Process category and the 2010 PPAI Suppliers Achievement Nominee Award in the Catalog (S1-S5) category.
Visstun, along with its sister companies DIGISPEC®, CounterPoint® and AwesomeEye®, is part of the Time’s Up family of companies founded by Ed Hamilton. While each division operates independently, all four are headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada.
