VISSTUN RECEIVES SCORES OF ‘EXCELLENT’ IN INDEPENDENT AUDITS
Passing the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point as well as Packaging Quality Systems and Product Safety Inspection third-party audits are ways the company assures product safety.
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (July 31, 2009) – To proactively assure product safety, Visstun® recently underwent Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) as well as Packaging Quality Systems and Product Safety Inspection (food safety) testing of its drinkware products and manufacturing facility. The results were scores of 965 out of 1000 (900+ is considered excellent) and 98.72 out of 100 (95+ is rated excellent) on the respective evaluations.
These third-party audits were conducted by ASI Food Safety Consultants, a provider of food safety and good manufacturing practices audits, seminars, international auditing programs, and HACCP design and validation.
HACCP is a management system in which food safety is addressed through the analysis and control of biological, chemical and physical hazards from raw material production, procurement and handling, to manufacturing, distribution and consumption of the finished product. The audit takes two days to complete and includes analyzing hazards; identifying critical control points; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions and verification procedures; and reviewing record-keeping and documentation.
The Packaging Quality Systems and Product Safety Inspection is conducted over eight hours and includes evaluation of quality systems, pest control, operational methods and personnel practices, maintenance and repair, cleaning program and security.
To maintain certification in both areas, Visstun must recertify every year.
“With the number of product recalls increasing in recent years, product safety is of prime concern for us and our customers,” said Ed Hamilton, Visstun president. “As a domestic manufacturer of drink cups and containers for large food and beverage clients, we control all aspects of the production process and can document our safety protocols to satisfy the product safety requirements of all our distributors’ customers.
Founded in 2007, Visstun®launched the world’s first high-definition convolute cups. This unique, state-of-the-art technology eclipses traditional cup imprinting methods by first printing high-quality corporate images on flat polypropylene sheets and then forming them into cups on custom engineered machinery.
The result is a line of visually stunning plastic and paper cups that has been honored nine times, including the 2009 Counselor Product Design Award for Drinkware and the 2009 Silver PPAI Supplier Achievement Award in the Supplier Self Promotion category.
Visstun, along with its sister companies DIGISPEC®, CounterPoint® and AwesomeEye®, is part of the Time’s Up, Inc. family of companies founded by Ed Hamilton. While each division operates independently, all four are headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada.
